The Mission of the Dracut Police Department

"The Mission of the Dracut Police Department is to prevent crime, preserve order, and to protect the rights, lives, and property of all people. The members of Dracut Police Department will work in partnership with the community to identify and effectively respond to the diverse, ever-changing social and neighborhood problems and needs. The Dracut Police Department will do this with respect, fairness, and compassion."

The Dracut Police Department has adopted the Problem Solving Community Oriented Policing approach in dealing with the many problems that we all face every day. Problem Solving Community Policing is a philosophy of becoming involved with the people we serve and working together as a team. By working together we will be protecting our futures and enhancing the quality of life for all.

Dracut is a vibrant suburban community 27 miles north of Boston, bordered by Tyngsboro to the west, Pelham, N.H. to the North, Methuen and Andover to the east, and Lowell to the south. Dracut has a land area of 21.36 square miles with a population of approximately 28,533. The town has approximately 146 miles of roads.
